Cowboy Baby Shower Cake

This cowboy baby shower cake is perfect for a western theme shower. Rebecca L. from New Haven, FL. created this wonderful work of art!

In advance make the flower. Roll white fondant about 1/8 inch thick and use a cookie cutter to cut the daisy shape; let dry.

Make a two-layer 9" round and a two-layer 6" round in your favorite recipe.

Cover the 9" cake with a light coat of buttercream icing. Tint fondant dark blue and roll out to 1/8-1/4 inch thick. Place over the cake and smooth with your hand or fondant smoother; cut off excess at bottom with a pizza cutter or knife.

Use extra fondant to cut a pocket shape and attach it to the cake by outlining two sides and the bottom with water and setting on the cake.

Amazon.com has the materials you need to reproduce this cowboy baby shower cake. Take a look and see what they've got.

Roll additional blue fondant into rope, wrap around the cake and attach to the bottom with water. Coat the 6" cake lightly with buttercream. Tint fondant red and roll out 1/8-1/4 inch thick.

Place on the baby shower cake and smooth with your hand or fondant smoother; cut the excess fondant from the bottom.

Stack the small cake on top of the larger cake (secure with a dab of icing in the center).

Use buttercream or royal icing and tip #3 to create a bandana pattern on the top tier. Use tip #12 to make the ball border around the bottom of the tier. Use tip #2 and brown icing to make the stitches around the denim cake and pocket.

Roll a pea sized amount of red fondant into a ball for lady bug body. Make a black ball for the head; attach with water to the boy. Use black food coloring on a toothpick to make dots on body.

Cover wire with green fondant, attach flower using water, attach bug to flower using water. Place completed flower in the pocket.
