Baby Shower Diaper Cake
My baby shower diaper cake from my mother-in-law for my first daughter, Alison Faith.
It came in very handy, since it was made entirely of diapers. Of course, it would also be a great centerpiece before mom takes it home. I wrote a
diaper cake poem
you could include on the gift tag.
My husband, Kent, and I reproduced a diaper cake similar to the one we received from his mother. 1) Obtain a large platter. My mom got one from the meat deli at a grocery store. For our creation, Kent took a large round lid and traced it onto cardboard, cut the circle out, and covered it in tinfoil.
2) Buy a box of size 2 diapers, since babies usually aren't size one for too long. We used size 3 for these instructions since that happens to be the size Brianna is using right now :) Also, buy a large roll or two of curling ribbon. You will need a lot. 3) Roll each diaper individually from the bottom to the top and tie it with a piece of curling ribbon. 4) Arrange them on your platter in a circle and wrap a long piece of curling ribbon around them to hold them in place. It would be great if you had help for this part. 5) Arrange another circle of diapers as if to add another tier to your cake and tie a long piece of curling ribbon to secure it as well. 6) Make as many tiers as you have diapers for. 7) Top it off with a small stuffed animal if you'd like. Amazon.com has a very large selection of diaper cakes sold by talented artists. . This version takes less time to make, since each diaper is not rolled and tied individually.
