Hawaii Baby Shower Theme
Hawaii Baby Shower Theme In Hawaii, it is traditional to hold a luau for babies' first birthday. But we can't wait until then, can we? We've got a baby shower to plan! We can't all make it to the big island, so let's bring a taste of the island to your guests. We're going to the Hukilau!
Invitation: | You could use this cute invite I've found in a Hawaiian feel, or you could make your own invitations using cardstock and colorful markers. |
Menu idea: Teriyaki Beef or Chicken 3 lbs. of Beef or ChickenTeriyaki Sauce: 2/3 C. Shoyu (Asian soy sauce) 1/2 C. Sugar 2 Tbsp. White Wine 3 Cloves Garlic, minced 1 inch piece ginger, crushed 3 Green Onions, chopped Mix all ingredients. Soak meat 3 hours or overnight in sauce. Bake in shallow pan at 325 for one hour. Turn pieces over and baste with sauce half way through cooking time. Serve with chopped green onions on top. Makes about 12 servings. Serve over rice.
Island Pineapple:
2 Fresh Pineapples, chopped into serving size pieces Li Hing Mui Powder to taste Li Hing Mui is a cracked plum seed, and tastes excellent on any kind of fruit. I think you could serve it on just about anything. A good friend of mine from Hawaii likes his on gummi bears, which would serve as a great authentic candy to place in small dishes throughout the room.
Dessert: | Make dessert simple by baking some cupcakes and using these beach bum cake picks. These little picks would beautifully accent the party. |
Hawaii Baby Shower ThemeDecorations:
Always a great place to find inexpensive decor and party supplies is Oriental Trading. Try their website to find Everything Luau . They've got beautiful leis and other fun ideas. | Or hop over to The Party Works to see their selection of decor, including these fun wall cut-outs. |
 | Lime green is festive and exciting, and the perfect color for tableware. |
Hawaii Baby Shower ThemeGame Idea:
Rolling CoconutsSet up: Use two large objects to mark the goal boundaries (big soup cans, upside down drinking glasses, cones if you have them, chairs). Make the goal only a foot wide. Game play: Make the "go" line about ten feet away from the goal. One at a time, invite players to roll a coconut, and score a goal. To increase the difficulty, blindfold the guests. This is best as an outdoor activity, as coconuts shed, and eventually break. You'll want to have a few coconuts for the game just in case. Score however you'd like. A suggestion is the person with the most goals gets a prize. Or you could split up into teams.
Baby Gift:Give the baby a gift to match your hawaii baby shower theme. Try Amazon.com to see what's in stock.
