Pooh Baby Shower Cake
Beautiful, detailed instructions for a Pooh baby shower cake, written by cake artist Lauri Kennedy of Shokan, NY, USA. This was a fun cake to do! I made the little Classic Pooh figures ahead of time using color flow / runout method. I simply traced the Pooh figures and balloons that I wanted to use onto paper, taped them onto rigid cardboard, and taped wax paper over top of them. I made the color flow and tinted it copper and blue, outlined the figures as neatly as possible. Then, following the directions on the container, I thinned it down a bit and filled in the figures. I let these dry for a few days. When dry, I painted the word "hunny" on the honey jars with a small paint brush dipped into black paste icing color.

The cake itself was lemon with raspberry pie filling! Yummm! I iced it in white buttercream. I reserved areas where the figures would go by piping an outline in white, then piped a cornelli lace design with tip #2 in surrounding areas making sure not to cross lines. Over top of the outlines reserving spaces for the figures I piped little green leaves using tip #349. A tip #21 shell border surrounds the inner top area which has the writing in it, and another shell border finishes off the bottom of the cake. The figures were attached using a little bit of buttercream on the backside of each. The new mother loved it!
