Cute Snail Baby Shower Cake

Suzy Vanhoose is the talented artist behind this very sweet snail baby shower cake. She is from Penndel, PA! Thank you Suzy!

This cake was made to match a nursery theme for a baby shower.

Both layers of cake were covered in fondant and then stacked. Then I took a thin paintbrush and mixed some paste color and lemon extract together and used a straight edge to paint thin vertical plaid lines. Then I freehanded the horizontal plaid lines.

I made a fondant ruffle for the top and bottom borders, and then some fondant "rick rack" for the middle border and also for on the top.

The cake toppers are made of white fondant which I painted with lemon extract mixed with either paste color or petal dust, and then covered it in pearl dust.

Then for the patchwork flowers I just combination hand cut/cookie cut out the shapes and attached to the cake with lemon extract. I rolled out the pieces on a small texture mat to give it a little texture. I painted the butterfly path with the same color as I painted the plaid.

If you need fondant and tools to reproduce this snail baby shower cake see what Amazon has in stock. Excellent prices!
